Thursday 7-10

Cream of wheat with maple syrup for breakfast and then we went to the Jenny Lake trailhead for a morning hike. First we took a shuttle boat across Jenny Lake, just a 10 minute ride. From the other side we began our hike. It was upward .5 mile to a waterfall then another .5 mile up to Inspiration Point looking out over the lake.

From there we continued about 2 more miles in the Cascade Canyon trail. We left most of the people behind and this part of the hike was quieter. The trail followed beside a glacial melt-water river up into a canyon between two of the big Teton peaks. We saw lots of chipmunks, pikas, little squirrels called chickarees, and wildflowers. It was about a 6 mile total hike.

We took the boat back across Jenny Lake.

In the afternoon we drove to The town of Kelly (not far from campground, couldn't resist). Hoping they'd have a Kelly tshirt, but alas, there was only one small store. We did find ice cream there though.

The rest of the day was relaxing at camp, the boys played Legos for a long time together, creating scenes and battles in the grass and tree near the tent.
